New development of 20 terrace houses without a traditional heating system:
- Extremely well insulated and very airtight
- Equipped with a high efficiency ventilation heat recovery system to heat supply air
- Remaining heat requirement covered by heat from occupants, appliances and lighting
- Each house also has a 5 m2 solar collector designed to cover 50% of the energy supply for hot water use
- Cost is estimated to be about the same as traditional construction
- Ongoing monitoring for research into the effectiveness of the development
