Steering group
The joint UK-Sweden initiative is overseen by a Steering Group drawn from a broad spectrum of those with interest in sustainable construction including the construction industry, trade bodies, non-government organisations (NGOs), academics and government officials. It comprises representatives from both the UK and Sweden, and meeting venues for the group alternate between the two countries.
The objectives of the Steering Group are to:
- facilitate national and international dialogue between policy makers and those involved in the regulation and implementation of sustainable construction, management and renovation of buildings through shared best practice and key examples at all levels in the construction chain;
- identify construction, management or renovation related projects that would enhance sustainable development in the construction sector in each country and to support UK-Sweden partnership activity;
- bring together current UK-Sweden activities linked to building construction and refurbishment as examples of the benefits of shared best practice;
- disseminate widely the results of joint UK-Sweden projects, both successes and failures, to ensure that lessons are learnt and mistakes not repeated.
The Steering Group is responsible for agreeing work plans that will achieve the objectives of the initiative; monitoring progress; ensuring the continued relevance of the work to Government and the construction sector; and contributing innovatively and imaginatively to the setting-up and maintenance of the initiative.
